THE PALACE HOTEL - HALLWAY

Cynthia walks around the corner and walks up to the door of Carter’s suite. She lets out a sigh and knocks on the door.

THE PALACE HOTEL - CARTER’S SUITE

Carter is buttoning his shirt and walking to the door. He opens it.

CARTER: (caught off guard) Cynthia.

CYNTHIA: Hi.

CARTER: I didn’t know you were coming over.

CYNTHIA: I didn’t either. But, I was in the neighborhood and I thought that we should have a quick chat. Do you have some time to talk?

CARTER: Definitely. Come on in.

CYNTHIA: Thank you.

Cynthia enters the room. Carter goes to shut the door but accidentally does not shut it all the way. This just leaves a crack in the door.

Back in the Hallway…

Lindsay walks up to the door. Just before she is about to knock, she hangs back a little when she sees Carter’s door open. As she peaks further inside the suite, she sees Cynthia talking to Carter.

CARTER: (voice only) What do we need to talk about? I thought we said goodbye to one another all because you moved back in with Michael.

CYNTHIA: (voice only) Carter, there is so much left unsaid. I can’t exactly forget our past. And, I can’t exactly forget our secret.

The camera zooms in on Cynthia. She leans in a little further to listen. It’s obvious that she’s very intrigued in learning what Cynthia and Carter are hiding.
THE PALACE HOTEL - PARKING GARAGE

The elevator doors to the garage ding open and Ava steps into the parking garage. She begins walking to her car. As she approaches her car, Keith jumps out. Ava screams.

KEITH: Hi, darling.

AVA: (deep breath) This isn’t real. It’s not real.

KEITH: I assure you that it is.

AVA: No! I’ve dreamed of you before. This isn’t real.

Keith steps closer to Ava and strokes her cheek. Ava quivers at his touch.

KEITH: Do you believe me now?
MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - STUART’S HOSPITAL ROOM

Stuart is laying in his hospital bed. Judith is sitting in a chair that is next to his bed.

STUART: You didn’t have to stay here all day and night. There’s plenty of people to take care of me around here. You can go home.

JUDITH: Even though we’re divorced, I still want to be by your side. After a couple of years, in sickness and in health applies no matter what.

STUART: I guess you can say that. Anyway, enough about me. How’s Ava doing? I’ve been worried sick about her.

JUDITH: I can still see that this whole Keith thing is consuming her life. It was bound to happen at this point. I just didn’t think it would happen this fast.

STUART: Is she going to move in with you at the penthouse?

JUDITH: She has to. There’s no other option. She has to be safe.

STUART: I can get a couple of guards there by the end of the day.

JUDITH: It’s just sad that this is the life she has to lead.

STUART: That is until we can find something to bring him down. We have to find a way to lure him out of hiding officially and a way to turn him into the police.

JUDITH: I have someone I can call.

STUART: Who?

JUDITH: Vargas.

STUART: Are you out of your damn mind?!
ANDERSON MANUFACTURING - CEO OFFICE

Kimberly is sitting behind her desk and looking through some papers. She is also wearing a pair of reading glasses. Then, there’s a knock at the door. Kimberly closes her current file she’s looking through.

KIMBERLY: (taking off glasses) Come in!

Quentin enters the office and shuts the door behind him.

KIMBERLY: Quentin Whitmore…, what a surprise.

QUENTIN: How are you, Kimberly?

KIMBERLY: I’m doing good. Yourself?

QUENTIN: Perfect.

KIMBERLY: What can I do for you today?

QUENTIN: I was hoping you could make some room for me on your calendar.

KIMBERLY: For what exactly?

QUENTIN: A date.

Back at Memorial Hospital, in Stuart’s Hospital Room, Judith is standing over by a table. She is pouring a glass of water. She then walks back over to Stuart, hands him the glass of water, and sits back down on the chair.

JUDITH: Calling Vargas is not completely out of the realm of possibilities. You have to admit, he gets the job done. Always.

STUART: Vargas is a great henchman. However, he ran down our son. He knows all of our secrets concerning the murder. Are you forgetting why we sent him away in the first place? Don’t get sloppy.

JUDITH: Stuart, for the right price, he’ll keep any secret and do any job.

STUART: I said ‘no.’ We can find another way. We have so many connections.

JUDITH: (sighs) Fine. I’ll see who else is in our back pocket.

STUART: Just make sure they don’t know our deepest, darkest secrets.

JUDITH: Darling, you don’t get to where we are in this world without people knowing your deepest, darkest secrets. The trick is to not let them blackmail you.

Back at Anderson Manufacturing, in the CEO Office, Kimberly comes out from behind her desk. She has her reading glasses still in her hand. She folds them and puts them on her desk.

KIMBERLY: What makes you think I’ve got time for a date? I just came back to the US not too long ago to run my family’s company. I’m loaded down with work.

QUENTIN: We all get a day off at some point.

KIMBERLY: Yes, we do. What makes you think I want to spend it with you? How do you know I don’t want to get a facial? Or, how do you know I don’t want to go for a run and then have lunch with an old friend?

QUENTIN: I don’t know that. I’m just here to offer you dinner at a place of your choice. And, you don’t even have to worry about the price of the meal.

KIMBERLY: Oh, honey, I never worry about that when someone else offers to pay.

Quentin laughs.

KIMBERLY: What’s so funny?

QUENTIN: I love your feistiness.

KIMBERLY: Do you now?

QUENTIN: Yes, I do. (checking watch) Well, I’ve got to get to a meeting. How about I give you a call later and then we can set up a date.

KIMBERLY: You don’t have my phone number.

QUENTIN: Oh, yes, I do.

KIMBERLY: How?

QUENTIN: (going to the door) I slipped your assistant a 50.

KIMBERLY: Did you now?

QUENTIN: You bet I did.

Quentin exits the office. He shuts the door behind him. Kimberly smiles into the distance.

KIMBERLY: He’s just as I remember him.

Back at The Palace Hotel, in the Hallway, Lindsay continues to listen into Carter and Cynthia’s conversation. In Carter’s Suite, Carter is putting on his tie.

CYNTHIA: Are you going to listen to me?

CARTER: I can multitask. Whatever you need to say...say it.

CYNTHIA: I love Michael. And, I love that our life is officially back to normal. I just need to make sure that you won’t let our secret get in the way.

CARTER: I won’t. I love Lindsay. We’re back together now. Everything is how it should be. In fact, I’m going over there after I go for this job interview.

CYNTHIA: That’s nice. Does she ever mention our history? Is she still hung up on it like she’s always been since the day she found out we used to be married?

CARTER: She mentions it sometimes. Honestly, it’s not really something we talk about 24/7. Lindsay and I are just focused on moving forward. We are determined to look towards the future. I’m sure you and Michael are the same way.

CYNTHIA: We are.

CARTER: Look, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be awkward as hell. However, you won’t have to worry about me being awkward around you. We’re hiding something. But, lets hide it deep down and never let it come to the surface. Deal?

CYNTHIA: Deal.

Back in the hallway, Lindsay inches closer to the door.

LINDSAY: (quietly/to herself) Secret? What secret do they have. I have to find out.

Before Lindsay can barge into the room, she hears a voice in her head. It’s her voice. But, it’s almost like someone is speaking to her. The voice says: “Don’t go in. You have to wait for the right. Right now is not the right time.”

Lindsay becomes haunted by the voice. This causes her right eye to twitch. Then, she collapses to the floor and becomes unconscious.

Back in Carter’s Suite…

Carter and Cynthia turn around at the sound of Lindsay falling to the floor.

CYNTHIA: What was that noise?

CARTER: I don’t know.

Carter then becomes curious when he realizes his door is ajar. He walks to the door. Cynthia soon follows him. Then, Carter opens his door.

CARTER: (shocked) Oh my god!

CYNTHIA: Lindsay?

Carter kneels down beside Lindsay. He then looks up at Cynthia.

CARTER: We need an ambulance. Now!

Still at The Palace Hotel, in the Parking Garage, Ava slowly backs away from Keith. She then stops when she’s a couple of steps away from him.

AVA: So, you finally had the balls to come out of hiding.

KEITH: Only to visit you. I couldn’t wait any longer.

AVA: I’m calling the police.

KEITH: I wouldn’t. I won’t be long.

AVA: What do you want?

KEITH: I just wanted to see you again.

AVA: Here you go playing your usual games.

KEITH: This is not a game, sweetheart.

AVA: Don’t call me that, you bastard.

KEITH: I see you’ve grown a sharper tongue.

AVA: Why are you here in town? Why have you followed me?

KEITH: We have so much unfinished business, Ava.

AVA: Like what?

KEITH: I don’t want anyone else to have you. I will not stop till I get you to be mine once again. Even if it means I have to get you by killing us both.

AVA: Stay away from me.

Ava tries to walk passed Keith. However, she grabs her arm forcefully. Ava and Keith stare deeply at one another.

AVA: Let go of me.

KEITH: (smells her) I’ve missed you.

In a hurry, Ava reaches into her purse and grabs her gun. She presses the gun right into Keith’s abdomen. He smiles at her.

AVA: Unhand me.

Keith lets go but in a way pushes Ava.

KEITH: Fine. I’ll go. But, this is not the last you’ve seen of me.

Keith laughs and runs away. Ava drops her purse and gun to the floor.

AVA: (sobbing) Oh my god. Oh my god.

The camera zooms in on Ava’s frightened and confused expression.
