LINDSAY: (on the phone) Yeah...sorry I had to leave early. I just have to get up in the morning for an unexpected staff meeting. No, I don’t need Thomas there, dad. He needs to celebrate his marriage. Anyway, text me tomorrow and tell me how the rest of the party went.

As Lindsay hangs up her phone, Carter walks up to her.

CARTER: Oh, Lindsay. Hey.

LINDSAY: (sighs) Hi. You can continue to walk through. It’s not like I’m a troll under a bridge trying to give you a tricky riddle. You don’t have to stand there and talk to me like we’re BFFs.

CARTER: Actually, I would like to speak with you.

Lindsay takes a deep breath and collects her things.

LINDSAY: This isn’t happening.

Before Lindsay can walk away, she stumbles back.

CARTER: Are you alright?

LINDSAY: I’m fine. I’m just a little lightheaded. It’s not like you need to take me to the emergency room again.

CARTER: That’s a relief to know. Look, can we just sit down and talk like I wanted to the second I bumped into you just now? Lindsay, we haven’t had a chance to really talk about what’s happened. Plus, I want to know where we stand. You said that if I came clean, then you wouldn’t leave me forever.

LINDSAY: You’re right, I did. I did say that. I was there. I remember our conversation. I also remember how you hurt me. Carter, I love you. And, I’m not sure if we will ever get back together or what the future holds. But, right now, I don’t want you. You chose your ex-wife...my stepmom...over me. That was enough to say goodbye. At least for now. Please, excuse me. (getting choked up) I have to go.

Lindsay walks off. Carter thinks about going after her but hangs back.
ANDERSON MANSION - GUEST BEDROOM

Thomas and Melissa enter the bedroom. Thomas is carrying Melissa. She is laughing as he puts her down and shuts the door.

MELISSA: You so did not have to do that.

THOMAS: Oh, yes, I did.

MELISSA: Gosh, I love you.

THOMAS: I love you too.

Melissa and Thomas kiss one another passionately.

MELISSA: It was nice of your father to let us stay here while our new house gets ready. And, while my family makes their way to town.

Melissa sits on the bed and begins taking off her heels. Thomas begins to remove his tie and his dress shoes. Melissa stands up after removing her shoes.

THOMAS: So, your family is still coming here?

MELISSA: Yes. I can’t wait for them to see how awesome your family is.

THOMAS: They’re truly something. Trust me.
THE PALACE HOTEL - STAIRWELL

Stuart is standing in the stairwell of the hotel. He sits down on a step as he continues to look through the updates on the Vargas situation on his cell phone. Then, he hears the door open. He stands and turns around as Judith enters.

JUDITH: There you are. I’ve been looking for you everywhere. What are you doing in the stairwell? You should be in the ballroom.

STUART: I can’t help but not turn away from my cell phone.

JUDITH: I thought we were going to put the phone away.

STUART: We were. That was until the bank started to flag the payments we were making into Vargas’ account. My guys said they can get the payments back on track…

JUDITH: Okay. So, there’s nothing to worry about.

STUART: You didn’t let me finish. My guys can’t get the payments back on track until tomorrow. We are three hundred thousand dollars away from being free. Unfortunately, the Devil has a sick sense of humor. We’re not going to survive the night, Judith. We’re finished.
THE PALACE HOTEL - BALLROOM

The party is going well still. Drinks are being poured. Everyone is dancing. And, Jennifer and Philip are making their way over to the main table. They sit down next to Joshua and Andrea.

JENNIFER: (laughs) Philip’s ballroom lessons are starting to pay off.

ANDREA: You’re really taking ballroom lessons, Philip?

PHILIP: Jennifer made them mandatory.

JENNIFER: (laughs) Damn right I did. Hey, brother, thank you for that lovely introduction into Philip and I’s dance tonight. We really felt the love.

JOSHUA: I do what I can. Pretty soon I’ll be making a toast at the actual wedding. I can’t wait for your guys’ big day to arrive.

PHILIP: We can’t either.

Philip says this as he puts his hands on Jennifer’s thigh and smiles at her.

MEANWHILE…

Across the ballroom, Amy and Mimi are sitting at the bar. Both of them are drinking a glass of red wine. They are snuggled close to one another.

MIMI: I know you do. I love going to them with someone I love.

AMY: Same here, baby.

As Amy and Mimi kiss, Veronica walks up to the bar.

VERONICA: (to the bartender) I’ll have a martini with no olives. Thanks.

As Veronica turns around and leans against the bar, Amy and Mimi come off of their kiss. Veronica looks over at them.

VERONICA: Please, don’t stop on my account.

AMY: We never do, Veronica.

VERONICA: Are you two enjoying the party?

MIMI: Don’t be civil just because we’re at a party celebrating our loved ones.

VERONICA: You two are the ones making up stories about how much you think I hate both of you. I don’t hate either of you. And, I’m not the bad girl here.

MIMI: Could’ve fool me.

AMY: Veronica, can you just leave? Please? It would do everyone a favor if you left us alone and while you’re at it, left this town.

Veronica turns around and grabs her martini. Without saying a word, she angrily walks off, taking a sip of her drink.

Back at the Anderson Mansion, in the Guest Bedroom, Melissa is sitting on the bed. Thomas is sitting behind her, rubbing her shoulders.

THOMAS: So, how long will your family be in town?

MELISSA: My mother was saying that they would be here for two weeks.

THOMAS: Nice. I’m sure my dad will love Anthony and Vivian.

MELISSA: If he likes jokes about day-to-day corporate business, then yes.

THOMAS: That’s who my dad is at his core.

MELISSA: I got a sense of that tonight.

THOMAS: Will Jamal be able to make it? I know it’s hard for him to get away sometimes from aspirations to take your father’s place at Hudson Industries one day.

MELISSA: My brother said he will be coming with my parents. Thank God. I’m not sure I could survive two weeks with my parents without my brother.

THOMAS: I love that you two are so close.

MELISSA: Sibling bonds are important.

THOMAS: I couldn’t agree more.
LINDSAY’S APARTMENT - LIVING ROOM

Lindsay, now as Lacey (her split personality), enters her home quickly. She slams the door behind her and goes straight to the couch, setting down her purse and a shopping bag.

LINDSAY’S APARTMENT - BEDROOM

Moments later, the screen fades to Lacey being in her bedroom. She is out of her daily wear and she has changed into a tight, bodycon, knee length red dress. She is also wearing a pair of gold hoops and stiletto boots. She then goes over to her vanity and sits down. She picks up a bottle of Cher Eau De Couture and puts some on her wrist.

She breathes in the smell of the perfume heavily. Then, she reaches for a dark, red lipstick. She opens the lipstick and begins to put some on. After finishing that, and setting down the lipstick, and puts on a huge, diamond, statement necklace. Then, she smiles.

LACEY: My look is almost complete.

The screen fades again. This time, Lacey is putting on a red hair wig.

LACEY: Damn. You look good.

LINDSAY: (in her own head) Let me out of here, Lacey! Or, whoever you are!

LACEY: After tonight’s meeting with Carter, it’s clear you need more help now than ever. I can’t let you out of your own mind. Not until I’ve completed my work to help you.

Lacey smiles at her own reflection in the mirror.
THE PALACE HOTEL - LOBBY

Veronica is sitting down on a couch in the lobby. She has just finished her martini and she is talking on her cell phone. She is also slightly crying.

VERONICA: (on the phone) Mom, it’s all going to hell. They hate me more than ever now. I thought that after I talked to their adoption agent, they would love the kind things that I said about them. However, they took it all for granted. They really do hate me.

DOREEN: (over the phone) Honey, they don’t hate you. They’re just not sure how to accept you. But, I promise that I will be there soon to help you sort this all out.

VERONICA: (on the phone) I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea for you to come here or not. But, I just want Mimi back. And, I know that you can help me with that.

DOREEN: (over the phone) Damn right I can. I will use every tool I have in order to let Mimi see that you are the real love of her life, not Amy.

VERONICA: (on the phone) Thanks, mom. I love you.

DOREEN: (over the phone) I love you too.

Veronica hangs up her phone, wipes her tears, and smiles.

Back at The Palace Hotel, in the Stairwell, Stuart puts his phone back into the breast pocket of his suit jacket. Then, he takes one step up to be on the same level as Judith.

JUDITH: What the hell are we gonna do?

STUART: I think it’s time we put our original plan into action. The one that I came up with. The one that you don’t particularly like.

JUDITH: I’m not leaving this town. I’m not leaving your side.

STUART: Judith, you have to. You have to go. Let me protect you. Plus, I’ll meet up with you in time. That is once I handle everything here.

JUDITH: You cannot be alone in this, Stuart. It will kill you. This whole thing is bound to be too much for your heart to handle.

STUART: No. What’s too much for my heart to handle is you being torn down and carted away off to a women’s prison for the rest of your life over this whole thing. I’m going to ask for the jet to be fueled. That jet will take you to the family island. There’s no extradition treaty there.

JUDITH: I love you.

Tears begin to well up in Judith’s eyes. She hugs Stuart tightly.

JUDITH: Marriage or not, I love you, Stuart Whitmore.

STUART: I love you too.

Stuart and Judith come off of the hug and kiss passionately.

JUDITH: Thank you for everything. Thank you.

STUART: Of course, darling. Now, go. There’s not time left. Go.

Judith sniffles and tries to hold back her tears. She then runs out of the stairwell and shuts the door behind her. Stuart is left there, wondering about the future.

Back at The Palace Hotel, in the Ballroom, it is clear that some time has passed since Judith rushed out of the stairwell and left the party. Jennifer and Philip are having a great time chatting with Quentin and Ava. Stuart walks up to them.

PHILIP: Dad, we were just talking about you.

STUART: Oh?

Related image
AVA: Yeah. I was telling them about you and Judith’s engagement party.

QUENTIN: Back in 1485, right?

STUART: Ha, ha, ha. It was 198…, never mind. I don’t want to show my age that much. The kids here might make fun of me.

JENNIFER: (smiling) I promise we won’t.

PHILIP: Speaking of mom, where is she? I haven’t seen her in awhile?

STUART: She had to leave. I’m sorry. She just wasn’t feeling well.

AVA: Oh no. I should go check on her. If I have to stay at the mansion tonight, I would like to know now. I don’t want to walk in much later and disturb her.

STUART: It’s okay, Ava. No need to check on her.

AVA: Okay. I still have to grab a few things first.

STUART: Ava, you don’t…

AVA: I’m afraid I do. It takes a lot to put this together in the morning.

Ava begins to walk off. Stuart grows increasingly nervous.

QUENTIN: Hey, are you alright, brother?

STUART: Yeah. I’m fine.

The camera zooms in on Stuart. He tries to hold back his nerves.
